As BİTKİDEN, we set out on December 27, 2022, to sow the seeds of transformation in the food system for a sustainable world and a bright future.

Our mission is to lead the transition to plant-based foods by bringing together all stakeholders who contribute to a sustainable plant-based nutrition system under our umbrella, to generate interest and awareness among consumers, to guide relevant policies, and to encourage our stakeholders to conduct scientific research and innovation in plant-based foods.

This effort, built on strong foundations with the support of our members, stakeholders, and the scientific community who spearheaded this transformation, represents an approach that embraces not only nature but also environmental, social, and governance dimensions in line with ESG criteria.

In the shadow of the global climate crisis, as emphasized by the United Nations, we must achieve sustainability and carbon neutrality goals in order to protect our food resources and biodiversity. With the steps we are taking in line with the Paris Climate Agreement, we are once again highlighting the importance of plant-based nutrition for healthy living and a sustainable environment.

Research from globally respected organizations such as the EAT Lancet Commission also indicates that plant-based foods will grow in popularity in the future. This trend plays an important role not only in the food sector but also in the finance and investment world in terms of integrating ESG criteria. Plant-based nutrition is directly linked to sustainable agricultural practices and reducing carbon footprints. Therefore, we invite all stakeholders to join forces under our umbrella to promote transformation with a holistic approach.

We don’t want to just ride the global wave of plant-based foods; we want to be the ones steering that wave. That’s why we support Turkey’s sustainability strategies in the food sector through international platforms such as the IPBFWG (International Plant-Based Foods Working Group) and the EAPF (European Plant-Based Foods Association). Furthermore, together with the new scientific committee we are establishing, we will undertake initiatives to enhance the reliability of plant-based foods and enrich our knowledge base in this field.

As BİTKİDEN, conscious of our responsibility for a sustainable world, we will continue our mission to shape the future by demonstrating innovative and ethical leadership in every step taken on behalf of nature and humanity.
